Maureen Metcalfe, M.Ed., L.P.C. is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Dayton. Maureen provides individual and family therapy to children, adolescents and adults struggling with a wide range of difficulties including, anxiety, depression, adjustment reactions, life transitions, grief and loss, relationship issues, parenting issues, behavior disorders, anger management issues, obsessive compulsive disorder, low self-esteem, suicidal ideation and self-injury, sexual abuse prevention, and family disfunction. In addition, she counsels families who struggle with aging parents as they navigate how to care for them in their own homes or in residential or assisted living care.
Maureen teaches coping skills for all ages and guided imagery for stress and relaxation.
Primary treatment modalities are recognized best-practice techniques and include, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Parent-Management Training, Play Therapy, Psychoeducation, Supportive Psychotherapy.
Maureen has been working in the mental health field since 1996. She has worked in a number of settings, including community mental health, integrative health care, linking primary care to behavioral services, collaboration with pediatricians and other physicians. She has been the Director of Administrative Services of a large mental health organization in Southern Ohio and was in a private practice in Butler, PA.
She is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Pennsylvania Counseling Association.
